We wanted to take a moment to thank you guys for spreading the word - well over 500 backers have joined the campaign so far, tripling our goal, with more than two weeks to go! Keep up the good work!
Review: Geekdad.com
Anthony Karcz over at Geekdad.com has posted a great write-up/review of the Hero Vault, which we're pleased to share with you. Be sure to check it out, along with all the other great content on the site!
Wood Spotlight
While we continue laying the groundwork for fulfillment, we wanted to showcase a few more woods from our selection of 75, all available right now in the campaign! As always, Wyrmwood does not utilize stain or dye any of our woods or products.
We leave the interior of our Aromatic Cedar pieces unfinished to allow the signature scent to breathe freely. Eventually the aroma will fade, but it can be refreshed by applying a thin layer of cedar oil to the interior of the case. Cedar is one of the softest, smoothest woods we offer, and it takes a close-to-the-wood finish wonderfully.
Ambrosia Maple is the result of an attack by the ambrosia beetle. They bore into a maple tree, and a fungus follows, which leads to remarkable streaks of grey appearing in the wood. Very popular in decorative applications and understandably rare, each piece of Ambrosia Maple is a unique example of natural beauty.
Occurring naturally in Cuba and Jamaca, Blue Mahoe is known for the bluish swirls of color that occasionally occur in the wood. Mahoe can vary greatly in color from tree to tree, and the blue in the wood can transform over time to shades of browns, purples, greys, and blue-greens. Some think that it is the growing conditions that influence the color of the lumber, but no one truly knows what brings out the blues and greys in Blue Mahoe.
Boogie Dice
We'd like to take a moment to draw your attention to another project we think you'll enjoy: Boogie Dice! We know you've seen a lot of dice, but you haven't seen any like this! These are the world’s first self-rolling, sound activated, programmable, gaming dice, and you've got to see them to believe them.
And what's more, games are being made specifically to utilize the unique properties of these dice. The first, Bots Battleground, is also available in the Boogie Dice campaign. Check it out now!

Engravings, Wood Options & More

Day four of the campaign is underway, and we've more than doubled our goal! Wow! You guys have been doing a terrific job. Please keep up the great work and continue to share the project across social media so we can make the Hero Vault a permanent Wyrmwood product - we're already a quarter of the way there!
Multiple Vaults, Exotic Woods & More Options
We wanted to take some space in this update to clarify some things:
If your reward includes free engraving and/or gift wrapping, it applies to all Hero Vaults you order.
You can add to your pledge to order additional Hero Vaults, dice and engravings, or upgrade to a more exotic wood. To do this, click the "manage" button at the top of the campaign page, and then change your total by typing a new value in the green box.
Finally, you'll be submitting your order to us post-campaign, in our pledge management system. The important things to remember are:
1) After the campaign, you'll select your items and assign your pledge to them;
2) You'll be able to add to your pledge if you decide you'd like additional Hero Vaults, add-ons or upgrades.
So for now, use our pledge calculator to determine your total, and then be ready at the close of the campaign to follow up with us to submit your final order and add any last-minute items.
Wood Spotlight
We'd like to take a moment in each update to showcase a few different woods. Remember, at Wyrmwood we believe strongly in the beauty of natural materials, so we never stain or dye any of our woods or products.
Walnut comes in many varieties, but American black walnut is the most ubiquitous. An exceedingly popular fine furniture wood, it is light, beautiful, and works easily. Wide, flat-sawn boards can have brilliant figure and cathedrals, making excellent dining room table tops – perfect for gaming! A perennial favorite, and a truly refined classic.
Extremely popular and sought after, rosewood is the quintessential wood for inlay, turnings, carvings and many musical instruments. Very hard, fine-grained, and crisp, there are many varieties of rosewood, some sold under other names. All of them take a beautiful polish and are considered fine tonal woods. Unquestionably one of the finest woods we offer, rosewood speaks of refinement and grace.
Black. More than any other wood on earth, Gabon ebony sets the standard for dark wood. Limited to decorative uses due to the size of the tree, it is fine grained, hard, quite easy to work and takes detail very well. Prized throughout history for its glossy, pure black, Gabon ebony is darkness manifest in wood. Paladins, healers and lovers of the light need not apply. Rogues, necromancers, and vampires, on the other hand…
That does it for this one. Stay tuned and keep up the good work!

Day 1: FUNDED!

You did it! Thanks to you, the Hero Vault has gone from concept to reality in just a few hours. Amazing work, everyone!
Congratulations Everyone!
As we move forward and work to line up all the details of the production over the coming weeks, we're counting on you to keep up the great work getting the word out through social media and other avenues.
Stretch Goals
If the campaign can reach $100,000, it'll prove that the Hero Vault has got what it takes to earn a permanent spot in our product line. We'll add it to our website and convention lineup permanently in our core 16 woods. Will it make it? That's up to you!
Managing Your Pledge
We've gotten a couple questions about how you choose different woods or add on engravings. You simply add the appropriate amounts to your pledge, and update it on Kickstarter. Here's a step-by-step guide:
1) Use our pledge calculator to find your total.
Click here to go to the pledge calculator.Once there, simply choose your items and add-ons from the lists, and click "add" for each. If you want to purchase additional Hero Vaults, just keep adjusting the drop down and quantities accordingly (remember to click "add" each time).
2) Adjust your pledge on Kickstarter.
Go to the campaign page and click the "manage my pledge" option. Once there, you can click the amount to adjust it to the total you got from the pledge calculator above.
A couple notes about adding to your pledge:
Shipping is a one-time, flat fee, for both domestic and international backers. This means that all Hero Vaults beyond the first ship free, worldwide. This should make pledging more painless, especially for our international backers!
Engravings cost $10 per Hero Vault. The cost is the same without regard to the length of your message. All engravings will be done by laser, in our workshop.
We've also updated the FAQ section on the main page, so check it out if you have other questions not addressed here. As always, feel free to comment or message us directly, as well.
That's about everything we have to cover right now! Again, thank you all, and we can't wait to see what you can do with the rest of this campaign!
