FAQ: Wyrmwood Hero Vault - Built to Carry your Gaming Essentials
For the most up-to-date information about the status of our project, check our project updates on Kickstarter!

How do I pledge? How does your pricing work?

We have our pledge levels set to the minimum pledge amount for a single Hero Vault in one of our most modestly priced woods. If you’d like to select a different wood, order multiple Hero Vaults, or purchase add-ons like engraving or gift wrapping, you’ll need to increase your pledge accordingly. We have complete pricing information here on this page, but you can use our handy pledge calculator:

https://wyrmwoodgaming.com/hv-woods/welcome-to-the-wyrmwood-kickstarter-pledge-calculator/

Simply enter in the items you’d like, and it will give you your total. Then, click the “manage my pledge” button on the main campaign page (where you went to pledge initially), and you can adjust your pledge to that amount. If you need any further assistance, just send us a message; we’re always happy to help!

What are the details and limits on the engravings offered here? How do you know what we want engraved?

The $10 engraving offered in this campaign is for up to three lines of text, on a single face of the bottom half of your Hero Vault. The character limits are as follows: 10 characters for one line (your name, your character’s name), 75 characters for two lines (adventuring group, your character’s name and nickname, a brief quote), or 160 characters for three lines (a favorite quote or special message).

We’ll collect the details on your engraving requests through the survey at the end of the campaign.

I'm not big on minis. What else can I do with a Hero Vault?

The Hero Vault was designed to accommodate role playing miniatures, but it also works great for holding dice, tokens/counters, or any small gaming essentials you may need. It will hold sets of 16mm size gaming dice - the most commonly sold and used dice for role playing games and board games in general, and the ones that come in the widest variety of colors and finishes. However, it can also hold 19mm d6 dice, such as casino dice, though obviously it will hold a bit less. Finally, it can hold plenty of mini dice (12mm) as well.

How durable are your Hero Vaults?

In short, they’re tough. Wood is a strong material, which is why it’s been used in houses, boats, floors, tables and so much else throughout history. Of course, our products aren’t designed specifically to withstand severe abuse. Wood can crack if you hit it hard enough the right way, leather can be cut or ruined. But under normal usage this is very unlikely to happen.

It’s worth noting that wood species vary widely in density and hardness. Gabon ebony and purpleheart are very hard and strong woods, while Eastern White Pine and Mahogany are less so. None should be considered fragile, but there are significant differences, so one may wish to err on the side of hardness if you expect the piece to take a lot of abuse. Of course, in the event of damage, you’re always covered by our Craftsman’s Promise. If you would like further guidance in choosing the best wood option for your lifestyle, we’d be happy to help - send us a message!

How should I store and care for my Wyrmwood product?

Wood is a natural product, and as a result it does react to certain environments. You’ll want to avoid storage in temperature or humidity extremes and exposure to sudden temperature shifts. These are standard issue cautions for not just our products but any fine product made of wood. Just don’t leave your Wyrmwood piece for an extended stay anywhere you wouldn’t want to be, and it will be fine.

Will my piece look just like the one pictured here?

Your piece is yours, and won’t look exactly like any other piece. Photos are best used as samples of the material, but variation should be expected. Wood, leather and suede are natural, and that means they’re subject to variance and change – while the pictures will give you a very good idea what to expect, grain patterns, features/figuring and color will all vary slightly from one piece to another. You can count on getting a quality made item in the design and material you specify, but understand these are not mass produced, artificially made items. Your Wyrmwood piece is a natural product and these qualities make it truly unique.

How accurate are the colors? Some of these woods seem to vary a lot.

Wood is a natural material, and part of the beauty and charm of that is that, over time, it will change. This is a response to oxidation and UV exposure, and while the changes can be slowed or controlled to some degree by limiting exposure, they cannot be fully stopped. A few woods are more subject to this than others: Cherry will gradually darken in a process which takes years, but this process is quite rapid initially – you might even notice a difference from one day to the next. It will grow more striking as it changes.

Purpleheart is sought after for its color, however it’s important to note that the color of your piece will shift with time and UV exposure. It will begin a quite vivid purple, but will slowly and gradually shift to a dark brown with a more subtle purple tint. This is nothing to be concerned about- quite the opposite! It ensures that your piece will grow along with you.

What's your company policy regarding wood sourcing?

Exotic woods are increasingly rare, and ethical harvesting methods are more important than ever. Wyrmwood strongly supports conservation efforts, and we source our lumber from those responsible companies and dealers who make environmental protection a top priority.

However, exotic woods, like diamonds, often come from regions where there is a history of environmental and human rights issues. In such circumstances, there is a chance of illegally obtained or irresponsibly harvested wood being mislabeled, despite the best efforts of certification programs and organizations. Neither we, nor any of our suppliers, would knowingly purchase illegally or irresponsibly harvested timber for our products – but we feel it’s important to be up front about the realities involved.

Our domestic woods, from trees local to North America, are managed with sustainable practices; any of these selections can be purchased with 100% confidence that those trees have been harvested responsibly and are not at any risk of becoming endangered. White oak, white ash, maple, cherry, black walnut and bamboo are all great, ecologically friendly choices.

We offer a large assortment of woods for people of all backgrounds and tastes, and leave the ultimate decision on exotic materials to the discretion of our customers. We pledge to be transparent with our wood sourcing, and appreciate and share your concerns in this very important area.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
