Final 12 Hours!

Well, here we are in the final stretch! Just 12 hours left, so be sure to finalize your pledge and add any last minute Hero Vaults, engravings, gift wrapping or dice to complete your orders.
If you have any friends on the fence, let them know that now's the time!
BackerKit
BackerKit is coming! We're working to get it ready to launch as close to the end of the campaign as possible, as detailed in our last update. We'll only have it open for a short time, due to the time-sensitive nature of the pledges, so be sure to get it filled out as soon as you get the invitation. It's a simple process:
1) Click the link in the email invitation.
2) Complete your brief survey and give us your shipping information
3) Assign your Kickstarter pledge to items via the "add-on" menu - remember to add your engravings and gift wrapping as desired.
4) Give us your engravings and final details on your order (which engraving is for which Vault, what should be gift wrapped, etc)
5) Wait to receive your Hero Vaults!
Wood Spotlight
One final spotlight of a few woods you may have missed. We hope you've enjoyed the selection - let us know your favorites in the comments!
Our Douglas Fir is quartersawn and absolutely free of defects and grain interruptions, with a characteristic striping grain. It works well, although it’s prone to splitting, so some care must be taken while working it. However, it’s remarkably stable and does not warp or move erratically as some woods do. It’s color deepens to a golden hue over time.
A close relative of Ziricote, Bocote is a hard, dense wood that grows no larger than a small tree. Both Ziricote and Bocote are occasionally used as tone woods in musical instruments. A unique feature of Bocote is the interplay found between heartwood and sapwood present in some pieces: the sapwood appearing a clean creamy yellow, with the heartwood contrasted in aggressive black and yellow graining.
This subspecies of Maple tree owes its brilliant coloration to invading beetles and fungus. First the beetles attack, boring holes throughout the tree. These wounds become avenues for a fungal invasion. As a defense, the tree releases powerful and colorful chemicals around each wound to fend off the fungus. Eventually the tree falls and we are able to appreciate the beauty of nature in action. The red coloration will become more muted over time, but will never fade away, and battle between the tree and the invaders can stand at your game table.
Thank you for your support and enthusiasm. We're eagerly awaiting the close of the campaign and we can't wait to get you your Hero Vaults!

Final 48 Hours!
– Wed, Nov 04, 2015 at 08:35:57 PM
We're in the final stretch of our campaign now, and wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for their support. We still have more than 24 hours to go, and as you probably know, they're going to be important, so keep posting, liking and letting people know that they've still got time to secure a Hero Vault of their own.
Here's some quick information for how fulfillment will happen, and what we'll need from you post-campaign.
BackerKit
When the campaign closes, we'll be sending an invitation to BackerKit. Note that this is the ONLY method we're using to collect information - we will NOT be using the standard Kickstarter survey - it just doesn't have the needed functionality for our campaign, and BackerKit is a much smoother, better experience for everyone involved.
When you get there, you'll confirm your address, answer a few simple questions, and place your order!
Your pledge will be converted into credit on the BackerKit site, and you'll go to the "add-on" menu to select your Hero Vaults, dice and add as many engravings and gift wrappings as you'd like.
You can also add to your pledge once you arrive at BackerKit, if you should decide to snag any last-minute Vaults as a gift or you just have to have one more - BackerKit can collect payment information so you can take care of any balance above your Kickstarter pledge.
Engravings will be purchased aside from Hero Vaults, so you'll need to tell us which Hero Vault you'd like each engraving on at the time you purchase it, but don't worry, just follow the simple prompts and it'll be painless, we promise!
Due to the time-sensitive nature of the campaign, BackerKit will only be open for 7 days, so it's vital that you respond quickly so we can get your pledge to you on time! Late responses to the survey are likely to delay your order! We're counting on your help to make fulfillment run smoothly, but the good news is that after you submit your pledge, all you need to do is wait for your Hero Vaults to arrive!
Mahogany is the name for a group of woods, hailing from the tropics and known for their easy working, consistent grain, and the deep rich brown they attain as they age. Mahogany, like maple or oak, comes in many varieties; it can be difficult to know exactly which type each piece may be. The quintessential fine furniture wood, it takes handwork and carving wonderfully and polishes, stains and finishes like a dream.
The hardest and most dense wood in the world, genuine Lignum Vitae is illegal to harvest and nearly impossible to source. What we offer is a close relative of the genuine article. It oxidizes to a green hue over time, an unusual color in wood. Lignum Vitae is sometimes referred to as “Ironwood.” What better choice for the rigors of the gaming table?
Wych Elm is the only Elm that is known to be native to the British Islands. Being very common in Scotland it is also known as Scots Elm instead of Wych Elm in some circles. In this case we are using the burl of the tree for lumber. Burls are the large roundish growths that naturally occur on many species of trees. The grain within burls is tightly swirled and highly figured. Note: There may be small voids or cracks in any burl wood, these are natural features of the burl and we do not fill or modify our burl wood in any way.

Quest For The Hero Vault Winners, Engraving and Gift Wrap Details
over 10 years ago
– Mon, Nov 02, 2015 at 04:41:59 PM
In the run up to the launch of the Hero Vault, we ran a contest on our Facebook page, where fans posted photos of their favorite mini. A select few were chosen as winners, and received an engraved Hero Vault featuring their character's name! These figures were featured in the campaign photography, as well. If you missed them, take another look!
Congratulations to all the winners!
Jason Thompson: Sir Oritan, Tharyvis ("Stout One"), Talos, and Draylyn
As the campaign nears its conclusion, we'd like to again highlight the various options you have to customize your pledge. In addition to the wealth of wood selections, you can add one or more engravings to your Hero Vault. An engraving can be up to three lines long and up to 160 characters. You can even add multiple engravings to a single Hero Vault! For each engraving, add $10 to your pledge.
Gift wrapping is also available, which will feature our trademark wax seal. If you'd like one or more of your Hero Vaults gift wrapped, just add $10 to your pledge for each.
BackerKit
We are finalizing our pledge manager system, BackerKit, and getting it ready for you. This is how you'll make your final choices regarding what wood you'd like, engravings, gift wrappings and other add-ons. You can also increase your pledge there, should you decide on a few more as last-minute gifts!
Due to the time sensitive nature of our delivery schedule for the Hero Vault, you'll need to act quickly, though - we'll only be leaving the BackerKit survey up for about a week or so, after which it will be finalized and we'll move immediately into production. We hope to send out the survey invitation immediately upon closure of the campaign - stay tuned for details as we reach the end!
Important: BackerKit will be our method of collecting information - the default Kickstarter survey will not be used.
Cherry is one of the few woods that one may wish to leave in the sunshine to darken, perhaps on a windowsill for a few days. It will shift from a pale, pinkish red to a deep, warm, reddish brown. This color change is initially rapid, visible day to day, but slows gradually. Like most fruit woods, cherry works easily, and can feature vivid grain. A classic, tasteful American wood for furniture and paneling.
A very small tree at best, usually a large shrub, its small stature excludes Holly from anything but decorative applications. This is regrettable, as its pure white color and lack of discernible grain is quite remarkable among wood species. It is soft, works easily, and finishes well. The wood of choice of Paladins and followers of Pelor.
One look at a highly figured piece of Brosimum guianense and it’s easy to see why it’s called Snakewood. Dramatic specks and splotches bear a close resemblance to the skin of a snake. In addition to its colorful figure, Snakewood is also among the densest and hardest of all wood species worldwide, nearly tied with Lignum Vitea, the heaviest wood in the world. As a small, rare tree, prices for surfaced and milled Snakewood that display the characteristic snakeskin pattern are perhaps the most expensive of any exotic lumber worldwide in terms of per- boardfoot cost.

The Final Week Begins!
– Fri, Oct 30, 2015 at 10:46:46 AM
We're entering our final week! Keep sharing and spreading the word to make sure that your friends don't miss out on a Hero Vault of their own. :)
Thank you for all your support and work so far, and we're looking forward to seeing what you all do in the final week!
Painter Feature: Geordie Hicks
We'd like to recognize Geordie Hicks, another painter whose work is featured on our campaign page. He's worked in the field of miniature painting for 15 years, spending 2 years recently working full time as a studio painter for Privateer Press. Now, he says he mostly paints for fun and enjoyment of the hobby.

Wood Spotlight
We bring you three more woods from our lineup; Black Poisonwood, a newcomer to our core lineup, along with Guitar Ash (commonly known as "Swamp Ash") and "1776" Cypress, two woods new to Wyrmwood, first introduced in this campaign!
Also known as Chechen, Black Poisonwood is a vibrant deep colored wood. Coming from the same family of plants as Poison Ivy (the family Anacardiaceae) the bark of the tree produces urushiol which is the same chemical skin irritant that Poison Ivy produces. Hence the name: Poisonwood. Don’t worry, the heartwood of the tree doesn’t contain any of the compound and is completely non-toxic.
“Swamp ash” is not a particular species of ash, but refers to any tree that is unusually low in density, found in wet or swampy areas where the root system is underwater. Popular among luthiers, Swamp Ash is used in musical instruments, especially solid body electric guitars. Many Fender guitars from the 1950s, among the most highly regarded of all time, were made from this wood.
Known as “Sinker Cypress,” this lumber was cut in the late 1800s from trees already 150 to 1500 years old. As logs were floated downstream to the mill, some broke free and sank. Minerals in certain rivers preserved and aged the logs instead of destroying them, where they patiently await retrieval. Extremely rare and expensive due to the difficulty involved in harvesting it, Sinker Cypress is a treasure of United States history.
We've just chosen a winner for a giveaway over on our Facebook page for our entire catalog of current products in Zebrawood - that's a Dice Tower Complete System, a Deck Box and a Tabletop Dice Tray! Congratulations to Kyle Bryant who'll be receiving this collection!
If you missed it, definitely head over and like us now to stay up to date with important announcement, convention appearances and, of course, promotions and giveaways!
BackerKit
As in the past, we will be using BackerKit as our pledge manager post-campaign. You should expect to see an invitation to a BackerKit survey shortly after the project ends. Once you get there, you'll be able to allocate your pledge to your items, and even add more to your pledge! You'll also be able to specify engraving and gift wrapping details.
Shoshie's Magnificent Mini Painting
We'd like to draw your attention to the work of a great painter: Shoshanna Bauer, aka Shoshie. A professional artist, she turned entirely to work on miniatures and figures after receiving numerous accolades in the community. As the more attentive among you may have noticed, she painted a number of the miniatures on display in our campaign, and you can see more of her work here: https://www.facebook.com/Shoshiesminis
Wood Spotlight
While we continue laying the groundwork for fulfillment, we wanted to showcase a few more woods from our selection of 75, all available right now in the campaign! As always, Wyrmwood does not utilize stain or dye any of our woods or products.
Black Locust is exceptionally stable and resistent to rot. Among the strongest, stiffest American woods, it’s very durable, and can still be found in fence posts, railroad ties and other outdoor applications. Historically prized as a firewood, Abraham Lincoln split many Black Locust logs as a young man. As with many woods, it will darken with exposure to UV light.
Often colorful, always unique
Canarywood is, as you might expect, a lovely yellow-gold with stripes of red or orange. Some pieces can even appear rainbow-colored. Canarywood is also said to have desirable acoustic properties; only fitting for a wood named after a songbird.
An exotic study in contrast
Swirls of black and cream play across the surface of Black and White Ebony. It is among the most rare materials we’ve used at Wyrmwood. Hard and dense, it takes finish and detail nicely. When working this wood it is fascinating to watch the shaving and sawdust change from black to white and back as you work across the board.
Another Great Project
Machu Picchu Dice are unique, handcrafted 19mm dice of silver and stone, made in Cusco-Peru. Each is a work of art, and they're available in three different styles, including one featuring iconography from the Incan calendar! These exceptional pieces are a great fit for anyone interested in quality craftsmanship and great gaming accessories, so we're sharing them with you. Of course, they'd look fantastic paired with a Peruvian Walnut Hero Vault, too! ;)
